A glorious sight in late spring, small, double yellow flowers smother the thornless stems. It will need full sunshine against a wall and may take a year or two to get established.
Discovered in China and brought to Europe in 1824, rosa Banksiae Lutea is a glorious sight in late spring. Bounteous sprays of early, dainty, double primrose yellow blooms smother the thornless stems. It needs a well-drained soil in full sunshine against a sheltered wall to give of its best. May take a few years to come into flower but well worth the wait! This variety is pot-grown and will only be sent out from late-April to September so it can get established before any severe frosts set in.
Named after Lady Banks, the wife of the botanist Sir Joseph Banks in 1807.
