This old shrub rose is rated as one of the best of all shrub roses. Red buds open to flat, fragrant, rose pink blooms comprising many short, attractively scalloped petals. Recommended for cutting and grows well in a container as well as beds and borders. Introduced in 1868 and named after the French explorer of the same name who instigated the original French claim to Canada in 1534.
