Flowering late spring - large primrose yellow five petalled flowers cover a large mounded shrub. Foliage is pretty in itself being finely dissected and fern like.Tolerant of poorer soils and semi-shady sites.
Rosa hugonis flowers in late spring when it is spangled with large, primrose yellow five petalled blooms covering a large mounded, thorny shrub reaching around 2mt, with unusual fern-like foliage. Tolerant of poor soil and semi-shade. Hugonis was named after Father Hugo (Hugh Scanlan), who sent seeds he'd gathered in China back to Kew Gardens in 1899. This species earned an Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1914 and an Award of Garden Merit in 1925.
